While dual-stick shooters are nothing new to the App Store, the simple ability to use two virtual sticks as opposed to the single analog nub of the PSP made Age of Zombies a better experience on iOS. This colorful dual-stick shooter featured improved graphics, slightly tweaked UI and gameplay elements, and most significantly a much more intuitive control scheme. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Age of Zombies is yet another title that was actually better on iOS than it was on its original platform.

After achieving huge download numbers with two original iOS titles, Halfbrick brought their well-received PSP Mini title Age of Zombies to the App Store. And the music is just as melancholy-amazing.- – – – Most gamers within our particular realm hadn’t heard of Halfbrick Studios until their mega-success Fruit Ninja captured all of our fruit-slicing hearts, but in actuality they have been creating games for various platforms for nearly a decade. The art style evokes a wonderfully grim lovechild between Dr. Nothing else in the App Store looks like World of Goo. I don't want to overdo the comparisons to Osmos, but like that exquisite iPad game, World of Goo is striking because of its unique look. If the screens don't adequately express the beauty of World of Goo, just know that this is one of the most attractive, stylish games for the iPad yet. That's a cool addition that gives you something to do once you finish all of the puzzles. Though there is no online multiplayer, there is an on-going competition between World of Goo players to erect the tallest towers of goo at the World of Goo Corporation's headquarters, which you unlock while playing through the first world.
When I figured out a particularly tough stage, I enjoyed a real charge of accomplishment. And the ability to actually reach in and move goo around with your fingers really makes you feel like more of an architect than a gamer. Stages range from windmills to a giant monster's intestines. There are even balloons for carrying goo structures over spikes and pits. Green goo balls allow you to "climb" up stages and re-use previously placed orbs. White goo balls can be stretched into ropes. The main black goo ball is just used for basic construction.

You have three free "solves" per day that go a long way to ward off frustration.) There are several different types of goo balls, each with special properties that are useful for planning an escape. You see, every puzzle has a required number of goo balls that must flee in order to clear the stage and unlock the next one. That's critical because if you are not smart about building, you can end up using too many goo balls to craft a tower or bridge, only to come up short when you finally reach the escape point. Dragging goo balls to the edge of a construction adds an extra piece to it, but removes one goo ball from play. There are escape pipes in almost every level you must somehow reach by creating networks of sticky ink. Of course, to explore it, you must help the goo balls escape tough situations.
